Notarised translation is usually required where documents will be submitted to organisations and government authorities abroad. Many of our clients find it convenient that we also offer a possibility to order notarised translations directly from us. We use both sworn translators as well as translators eligible to perform notarised translations at notaries’ offices.
Document translations that are usually notarised include: - marriage, birth and death certificates,
- extracts from Population Registry,
- real estate contracts,
- letters of attorney,
- company registration documents,
- school certificates and diplomas,
- Punishment Register certificates,
- copies of passports, ID-cards etc.
Documents issued in Estonia which are going to be used in a foreign country for official use should be authenticated with an Apostille, which was previously handled by ministries, but currently provided by notaries. The list of notaries providing the service. Estonian notaries can certify only translations of original documents, valid in the Republic of Estonia. A document issued in a foreign country must be certified with an Apostille in the country, where it was issued. Authentication by an Apostille is provided for documents that are to be used in countries that are members of the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961. The list of countries that have joined the convention is available here. For a notarised translation the original document must be clear and easily readable, provided with the place and date of issue, as well as the signature of the issuing person. It must not be damaged or changed after issuing. Public documents issued in Estonia can be used without an Apostille in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine and Poland.
